“Your seat on the bus”

“Welcome to the team…here’s your seat on the bus."
A few weeks ago we welcomed our newest City Life staff, Jonah Ssebegala, as the Tillicum Youth & Family Center Director. Right away Jonah jumped on a bus with 50 high school students, driving 7+ hours to central Oregon for YFC Camp, and 5 nights in a cabin with 4 boys from Tillicum he had just met.
New Lincoln High School City Life Director, Sondra Chamberlin boarded the bus with 7 Lincoln girls and 9 Lincoln boys. Having built ministry to the football team through Soma Tacoma, a local Tacoma church, Sondra’s experience at camp was the first exposure she had to our work.
Their week at Camp wasn’t devoid of difficulty. Boundaries were tested (and broken), attitudes were challenging, and there were a few really tough conversations. Sleep was scarce but lives were changed. When I asked Jonah about his camp experience he smiled...
“Wow, what a week. But God is good and our boys were changed.”
Sondra and Jonah both work with difficult teens in need, and they love it. This is where God has gifted them. Of the 20 high schoolers they work with, 8 began a relationship with Jesus that week. The week at YFC Camp is proving to be a springboard for their roles at Lincoln and Tillicum and we can’t be more excited. Welcome to the team…
Please pray for them and their minitries at Lincoln High School and Tilicum and thank Jesus for the amazing work He did through them at Camp!
