Tacoma YFC Board of Directors
Our Board provides direction, oversight and vision for the Executive Director and staff of Tacoma Area Youth for Christ. The board meets every other month for prayer, ministry updates and planning.
Carl Peterson
Board President
Carl R. Peterson is the Managing Partner at Eisenhower Carlson PLLC. He joined the firm in 1991, and became a partner in 1996. Mr. Peterson’s practice focuses on business, banking, and real estate transactions. He represents businesses and individuals in real estate and transactional matters, and he represents financial institutions in complex commercial lending transactions. He also assists individuals to establish and operate business enterprises, including forming LLCs and corporations, preparing buy/sell agreements, assisting with organizational maintenance, and otherwise helping with ongoing matters impacting small to medium sized businesses.
Doug Burton
Board Vice President
Doug is the CEO/Coach of Vision Service Group,a multi-faceted marketing agency in Tacoma, Wa. An avid sports lover and football expert, Doug is a veteran of several Spartan races and loves to challenge himself.
Doug attended Pacific Lutheran University and played football under the legendary coach, Frosty Westering. After graduation from PLU, Doug spent nearly 13 years in leadership at a large Chevrolet Dealership.
In 2002, Doug created Vision Service Group (VSG) in order to pursue his passion for marketing & technology. Today, VSG is a leader in providing professional marketing, consultation and technology solutions to companies of all sizes and industries.
While at PLU, Doug met Kristi, his wife of 23 years. Doug & Kristi live in University Place, WA, with their four children, Kylie 20, Kortney 17, Kenzie 12 & Kendall Edward (named after father Ed Burton) 10.
David Perez
Board Secretary
David grew up in Chicago, Il. and served in the US Army for 5 years with a tour in Iraq.
He is married to his lovely high school sweet heart Gladys and has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Genesis and Raelli.
In 2009, David was connected to YFC through Campus Life at First Creek Middle School; he started to volunteer and soon discovered a passion for serving Tacoma’s youth. He as been with YFC ever since.
He currently serves as a local Pastor on the Eastside of Tacoma and is dedicated to making Christ known by serving his family, church and community.
Randy Cook
Board Treasurer
Randy Cook, a Washington Native, grew up in Pullman, graduated from Washington State University (a Coug to the bone), moved to the “West Side” in 1985, and has called Tacoma home since 1990. Randy met his wife, Quincy (a Tacoma native and 7th grade teacher in University Place), performing as husband and wife in a musical in Gig Harbor. They have three children: Nathan (an accomplished dancer and Director of Washington Contemporary Ballet in Lakewood), Alex, (a senior at Stadium High School), and Maddie (a Junior at Annie Wright). They attend Life Center in Tacoma as their church home.
In private practice architecture for nearly 30 years, Randy has been a partner at TCF Architecture, a 30 person architecture firm in Tacoma, since 1999, specializing in projects for public infrastructure clients including public works departments, public utility districts, parks districts, port districts, transit districts, and the military, as well as private clients.
Linda Remsberg
Linda is a successful business leader with extensive experience as an entrepreneur, business owner, senior executive and CEO. She has had a range of experience in all areas of business with strong emphasis in business development, product development and sales. Her career includes a startup company that developed and sold software solutions and a payment processing company with over 200 thousand customers operating in all 50 states.
She is currently a Vistage CEO coach for the South Puget Sound area. Linda is married to Chuck and has three grown married daughters and 10 grandchildren.
Judy Loveless-Morris
Judy was born and raised a “military brat”. She was fortunate to live and travel the United States and world.
Never one to “fit” in the box, her education and career pathways have not been linear or traditional. Judy and her husband, Bryan, were married and fully employed while students at Pacific Lutheran University. Judy completed her doctorate degree at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her and husband now have three boys, Malachi, Titus, and Solomon, and live in University Place.
Currently, Judy is a tenure track faculty at Tacoma Community College. Prior to TCC, Judy has been fortunate to have a diverse career. Her work has ranged from being an Executive Director and Research Manager in research capacities and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level at UW, Seattle (where she was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award twice), PLU, and Clover Park Technical College. Irrespective of where she is employed, her work has consistently had a social justice focus.
